BATMAN:
Personal Project  |  POSTER DESIGN & COMPOSITE SERIES
I decided to do a type/title series on a few of my favorite film classics. The goal was to create something special based solely around the title, but adding visual elements of interest with a more modern flair. The other challenge in doing this was the existing amount of alternative movie posters that already existed for these films.

For Batman (my gateway drug into superhero films) I decided to build a bat signal from scratch with the idea of bookending the films opening title sequence with the ending's reveal of the bat signal, shown in the closing scene of the film. Initially, I wanted to make one image and "light" the signal, but I wasn't happy with the loss of detail. With that, I made 2 versions, 1 with details and Gotham City like reflections, mimicking the color grade of the film and 1 with a stylized lighting, mimicking the classic black and yellow of the suit.

Rendered in Adobe Dimension. 3D elements built in illustrator. Retouching and compositing in Photoshop.
